Custom Vinyl 7" Disc

My daughter already had the song on her phone, but the 7-inch vinyl gave her something physical from graduation that won't disappear into a camera roll.

My husband collects older 7-inch records, so I wrapped his custom vinyl exactly like any other addition to his collection. He opened it casually, looked at the artwork, and then stopped because the picture was obviously us. When he realized it contained the anniversary song I'd previously had made for him, the whole reaction changed. He immediately took it over to the turntable and played it. He already knew every word, but hearing it from a record while holding the custom sleeve made it feel new again. Afterward he filed it with his collection, although he put it right at the front where I'm fairly certain no vintage single has ever been allowed to live.

That's basically all she kept saying after opening it. Her birthday song on a real little vinyl record absolutely made her day.

Our custom song was played during our wedding, so by the time we received the vinyl we'd already heard it plenty of times. I wondered whether the physical record would really feel that different. The artwork uses one of our wedding photos, and we keep the record displayed now rather than tucked away. It's a very small object carrying a surprisingly big memory.
